WELCOME

Welcome to Reformed Evangelical Seminary

Reformed Evangelical Seminary (RES) exists because the global church needs more well-equipped pastors and leaders to shepherd God’s people in the whole counsel of God to better serve Christ and his Kingdom in every sphere of life. Our broken world desperately needs the gospel. A lost and confused generation needs more pastors, evangelists, and missionaries to make disciples of all nations, to baptize them, and to teach them to observe all that he commanded us.

How shall the church hear the whole counsel of God? How shall the world’s lost and confused hear the Great News of the gospel of Jesus Christ? How shall they hear without a preacher?
— Romans 10:14.

Our Mission

Reformed Evangelical Seminary equips pastors and church leaders to meet these priority needs for the sake of the Lord, the church, and the world for such a time as this.

Quality, Affordable Online Training

The Seminary offers quality, affordable online courses and degree programs in the Scriptures, theology, and ecclesial wisdom. RES offers two degree programs for current and aspiring pastors, elders, deacons, missionaries, and church leaders:

  • The Master of Divinity (M.Div.), 90 credits

  • The Master of Christian Theology (M.C.T.), 45 credits

Its online delivery doesn’t uproot families or expect its students to leave their homes and livelihoods behind to attend classes. Instead, RES students continue living, working, and worshiping right in their own home communities and congregations while they equip themselves for ministry.

They remain surrounded by the families they love and the pastors and saints who know them best—the very ones who are best equipped to hold them accountable and to confirm their gifts and callings.

The needs of the Lord’s bride, his church, take priority at RES. The Seminary assists the church (not the other way around) for equipping the next generation of her pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and leaders.

A Church-Centered, Place-Based Approach

This approach to pastoral and theological training combines the best of both:

  • Live, synchronous distance learning (with later asynchronous access to recorded lecture videos)

  • Local, face-to-face pastoral mentoring

Church-centered learning brings people together for ministry training in the right way and at the right place—the local church—where the work of ministry is actually done.

It reduces the distance between instructors, local congregations, ministries, pastors, and aspiring leaders. It empowers local churches of all sizes, anywhere in the world, by assisting them in their responsibility to equip their members to become the next generation of pastors and church leaders in their own church communities under the oversight and encouragement of their local pastors, elders, and congregants.

Learning Tools and Flexibility

RES’s place-based learning combines:

  • Live, synchronous video classes using easy-access, easy-to-use academic software

  • Online libraries and learning resources

  • Asynchronous access to lecture recordings for students in different time zones

Together, these allow students anywhere to join the instructor and other students face-to-face in a classroom where all can be seen and heard for lectures and discussions. Students in more remote time zones can view (or review) videos of live sessions at times that fit their schedules.

BECOME A CHURCH PARTNER

Raise up the next generation of faithful men for pastoral ministry and church leadership

Local Pastoral Mentoring

Most importantly, RES keeps pastoral mentoring and accountability rooted in the students’ home churches. Their own pastors—who truly know them, their families, their strengths, weaknesses, and ministry potential—serve as their mentors.

RES students also meet online with many faithful saints worldwide for their classes and regular teacher interactions, but never lose face-to-face engagement with their local pastor-mentors, congregations, and communities.

Throughout the year, RES encourages students to attend in-person church events (like presbytery meetings and conferences). The Seminary also hosts an annual REFRESH Retreat to gather RES students and staff to deepen bonds of fellowship and friendship.
