Accountability & Accreditation
Accountability
The Seminary is accountable for its overall institutional and programmatic quality, first and foremost, to the Church, through its founding congregations, Church Partners, and Global Church Associates. Second, the Seminary is accountable for its overall institutional quality and the doctrinal integrity of its biblical and theological instruction and academic programs to its governing seven-member Board of Directors. The Seminary’s Board members are ordained and experienced Christian pastors and church leaders from around the world (see Leadership). Third, the Seminary is accountable to the churches where its students are members and to the pastors and church leaders to whom they are accountable and by whom they are mentored. Together, these multiple layers of accountability preserve and protect the Seminary’s institutional quality, academic integrity, ecclesiastical faithfulness, biblical orthodoxy, and Christian orthopraxy.
Authorization
Reformed Evangelical Seminary has been granted exempt status by the State of Oregon to offer theological and/or religious occupations degrees. Oregon’s Office of Degree Authorization (ODA) has confirmed that the Seminary meets the conditions for religious exemption specified in Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 348.604 (2) and Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 583-030-0035. The Seminary will notify students of and publish on this site any changes to its authorization status.
Accreditation
Reformed Evangelical Seminary is not accredited by a U.S. government-recognized accrediting body. We recognize the value of peer accreditation in higher education for institutional and programmatic quality assurance and accountability. However, RES is not accredited at this time. Students should be aware that degree recognition and transfer of credits to other institutions may be affected by the Seminary’s non-accredited status. Please contact the Registrar’s office if you are considering further graduate studies or transferring to other institutions. The Seminary will notify students and publish on this site any changes to its accreditation status.
Questions?
If you have any questions about the Seminary’s ecclesiastical system of accountability and quality assurance, state authorization, or accreditation status, please contact the Registrar’s office.
